Baby Love Music Fun was founded in Melbourne 2007 by professional opera singer and performer, qualified educator and mother, Melanie Maslin.

Every 40 minute music class across the program is unique and features beautiful music, live singing and fun, stimulating play that is designed to strengthen the bond between you and your baby and will also enhance your baby's development.

 

Baby Love Music Fun Founder and Director - Melanie Maslin is a professional opera singer of 15 years and a qualified music, drama and early childhood development educator. Opera patrons and critics know Melanie Maslin (Duncan) as a past winner of the prestigious Mietta Song Recital Award and from her solo and ensemble performances with Opera Australia and the Victorian State Opera. Her teaching qualifications include degrees from AMEB and Trinity College in speech and drama teaching and she also possesses Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Monash University.

 

Recently Melanie has been requested to reprise her Mary Poppins role for ACMI at Federation Square.  Melanie continues to perform professional opera and musical performances for corporate clients with highlights including opening Carols by Candlelight at the Myer Bowl, and the Grand Prix Ball with Ten Diva's for Diva's Inc and  Opera Under the Stars concerts in Port Moresby for Extraordinary Acts.  On a recent BLMF training trip to Penang Melanie starred as the headline act of a Charity Concert and has been requested to return in July 2011.

 

 

A message from Melanie

I love teaching children and sharing my love of music with them and their carers. Thank you for your interest in the Baby Love Music Fun program and the benefits of music in early childhood development. In over 4 years of teaching music to babies and the adults who love them I have witnessed some truly wonderful moments and made some lasting bonds with families that make this an experience not a job. I have seen and enjoy teaching others to see the true magic of music and it's powerful connection with babies and children. Research has found evidence that music benefits the wiring of the brain, language and speech development and social development and that the period of 0-3 years is an especially important time in your baby's development. Getting to know your baby and setting the foundation of the bond that will last a lifetime can also be aided by the use of music in everyday routines, settling and creative fun and developmental play. Personally as a mother of young children and from my experiences over the last 4 years the evidence conclusively supports the benefits of music and I look forward to sharing ideas, activities and more musical fun in the future with as many lucky babies and their adults as possible.
